Autumn/Winter 2014 Necessities

Can you believe Autumn is nearly here already! The summer dresses are soon getting put to the side and I've already started shopping for some winter basics, I picked up a lovely jumper the other day.

In this post I'm going to show you my basics for autumn/winter that I couldn't live without.

1. Black skinnies are an essential for me as they can be teamed up with everything, plus who doesn't like wearing black in winter! However I really struggle to find a good pair of black jeans, it's like mission impossible. House of Fraser wasn't exactly at the top of my list for jeans shopping as I assumed they would be too expensive for my student budget. Little did I know that they do a wide range of skinnies and boyfriend fit for under £40, with brands like Dorothy Perkins, Warehouse, Dr Denim, Vera Moda, Jane Norman and more appearing.

I decided to try out Dr Denim due to my unsuccessful quest in finding a pair of high rise black skinnies in other brands. I got the Dr Denim Plenty High-Rise Skinny Jeans in black*.  I got them in xs as they're supposed to be equal to a size 6. They're incredibly flexible and a skintight perfect fit if that's what you're after. There wasn't a length guide but they're quite long. They would look great with fluffy or oversized jumpers, and big boots.

2. You might recognise this lipstick from my Make Up Rumours haul. This is shade 13 and I had a lot of people saying it's the perfect winter shade and it really is, I've gotten a lot of wear from it already. I'm looking forward to trying out more dark lipsticks!

3. Gloves are really important to me because if I don't wear them I go through that whole I can't move my hands because they're frozen stage. I picked up these Isotoner gloves last winter and they're great, they're thermal gloves and they really keep your hands warm. They come in a lot of stylish designs, and whilst they're expensive at around £10 it's worth it, rather than having gloves that let all the cold through. These are on sale for £7.00 here.

4. I absolutely love chunky boots for winter, they have a better grip and are quite easy to walk in. I'm currently quite liking the Chelsea boots, these ones from New Look are £25.

5. I love jumpers too as they're so easy to wear and you can chuck them on. I don't like the too overly fluffy ones as it seems like everyone wears the same thing! I really like the look of this jumper, it's quite simplistic but looks good. This is from H&M for only £8.

6. Finally, a decent coat pulls the whole outfit together. I like longer coats as they keep you quite warm, rather than wearing something just because it looks good which has no functional purpose. This coat has quite an elegant design (although I don't think I can pull off the pale coat look). This is from Dorothy Perkins, and is £55 from House of Fraser.

I hope you enjoyed this post!

What are your Autumn/Winter Necessities?
