Bare Minerals Ready Blush The One Review

Bare Minerals Ready Blush in The One

Every year at Christmas I await with trepidation, wondering what my Sister got me this year, namely what beauty product she'll pick up for me. This year was quite a surprise to say the least! When I first opened up the Bare Minerals Ready Blush in 'The One' I didn't know what to think, but as soon as I tried it I was in love. The girl did good!

Bare Minerals Ready Blush in The One Shade

I had heard a bit about the Bare Minerals Ready blushes and eyeshadows before but there isn't exactly a huge phenomena around them. I actually think they're quite underrated! The One for me is that undiscovered gem that you can't believe you've found and soon becomes your signature shade. It also happens to be aptly named!

BareMinerals describe it as a Nude Pink which is quite accurate, but I would say it's more of a dusky rose. It'a a shade that would suit most people and gives a very natural flush to the skin. To demonstrate I have a medium skintone and I think this is perfect for me, however Sam from Pixiwoo also included it in a Pink Heartbreaker tutorial here and though she's paler than me it also looks amazing on her. For those with deeper skintones it's not as pigmented as it could be, and therefore you would need to pick up more product.

It's also a lovely understated shade for people who don't do bright blushers. The formula itself is very smooth and easy to apply. The only drawback I found is that is that when swatched, as you can see below, it didn't show up well on my arm even with a few swatches. However, when I applied it on my cheeks a few swipes were enough to cover both cheeks (although I do like a more subtle blush). It is still a decent coverage, however drugstore brands such as Sleek are more pigmented. The fact that it's less pigmented may infact give it more of a natural glow. Either way, you get 6g of products and I still haven't even made a dent in it so it will last you a long time (even if you have to pick up more product).

The blush lasted more than half a day on me, without any primer or setting spray. This might be slightly less for those with oily skin. It also wore evenly during the day. It has a matte finish but gives off a little glow. For reference, it looked great on my neutral-slightly yellow toned skin, but it would equally suit cooler skintones.
Bare Minerals Ready Blush in The One Packaging Brush

BareMinerals do include little brushes with their packaging, which is quite matte and high end looking by the way, although it really is prone to fingerprints and gets dirty fast (thank heavens for wipes!). The little brush included is not only for cute purposes, it will pick up product reasonably and apply it, and it would be good for on the go. However, it isn't very good for blending it out.

I also got the tapered blush brush with the blush (tongue twister!). Whilst I am a fan of smaller face brushes this is even smaller than my Real Techniques contour brush. It is however great for getting a very precise application and blends well too. Whilst it is soft I still think the RT's sets are softer. However, there is hardly any shedding with this brush and it stays in an excellent condition.  The handle is quite small too.

Bare Minerals Tapered Blush Brush

Overall, I really like this blush. The pigment might not be amazing for the price but the shade really is the One for me. It is available for £22 here (the stock images are also most accurate on John Lewis).

I hope you enjoyed this post!

  8. I don't wear blush because, for some reason, it looks really strange on me! I cannot understand it. That shade looks quite natural looking though and may be a gateway product into obsession.

    1. I used to feel exactly the same, I would lightly dab into it so it would be a subtle bit of colour, but this shade changes everything!

  12. that is such a lovely shade! I don't have a favorite blush or even bronzer right now. I've not tried enough to know.. Also, since I'm not a hoarder and I don't exactly get sent PR products to try, I don't really have a chance to explore blushes (and bronzers)..

  13. Haven't tried many things from bareMinerals yet but love the look of this blush. Very girly but wearable at the same time. But I find £22 a bit expensive for what you get here. x
