I decided on the MICKE Desk with integrated storage in white (similar here) for £60 as it looked really spacious, the white option would also go with the magnolia theme I have. Plus is it me but I find myself running out of storage options every month?!
The delivery charge is £35 no matter what you order so I made sure I got my money's worth! It does seem like a lot but after trekking all the way to Ikea in Wednesbury (to pick up the flower pots) and having to get past the hoards of queues I think I prefer having it delivered.
They arrived after a week and my Sister (ie the handyman) set to work. As usual the instructions were rubbish and there weren't any youtube videos to help us out this time round. It took the best part of a day but we got there. My main tip would be to be very careful on which side up it is as it's easy to get confused by the diagrams and put them the wrong way round. There's also 3 pairs of sliders for each side of the drawer that have to go on facing a specific way. However, the most you need for this is a hammer and a good quality small screwdriver, so it often works out cheaper than buying a pre made set that doesn't look as good.
The MICKE desk comes with a long pull out drawer that is more than enough for all your stationary needs. The desk is very sleek looking and of a good height that makes it perfect for browsing on your computer or writing up notes. The only negative I can think of is that it is prone to attracting dust, but that's nothing a quick wipe over doesn't fix.
I also ordered the MICKE Drawer Unit with drop-file storage, also in white, here for £45. It's an almost perfect fit to the desk so I put it on the side as an extension. I did order it to store bits and bobs but currently the top 3 drawers are filled with chargers, odd bits of paper, a jewellery box and the odd beauty product. The 4th drawer is a drop down file storage that is perfect for A4 documents. I purchased the SUMMERA drop down files with it for £6 here, you get black and white files so you can mix it up a bit. However, you could also use it without the files and it doubles up as quite a tall drawer.
I really wanted a new chair too as I previously had the bar stool design chairs that I just couldn't sit on for very long! Note to self: never buy plastic chairs(!) So I purchased the Hygena Charlie White Chair from Argos for £50 (similar here) that is sooo comfortable! Plus I love the criss cross design, it's so stylish!
I also purchased the ToaTronics Desk Lamp from Amazon for £22.99 here. I don't have much to say about this apart from it's brilliant, it has 3 light modes and a reading mode too.
This is a side view of the MICKE Desk, the shelf units on the side are also quite spacious and perfect from holding everything from books to your everyday products.
Overall, I really love my new desk, it really opens up the room and offers more space! Lastly, I also purchased some REALLY big plastic boxes to store my folders in, which were about £3 each and can be stacked on top of one another.
I hope you enjoyed this post!

DeleteIKEA delivery is actually a really good idea. I usually make the whole journey to the store. :]

I don't think I'll be repeating that journey anytime soon, it was too tiring :)
DeleteThe desk is so pretty and it's such a good thing it has so many drawers so you can store all your stuff and keep it off the desk itself. It looks amazing.
