Online Beauty Reads

As a beauty blogger reading up on the latest product releases, trends and looks, and reviews is all part and parcel of what goes on behind the scenes when I'm not typing up a post. Even before I started blogging I would always turn to my (equally beauty obsessed) friends and talk about the new brushes that I had seen.

We're lucky that the internet has an abundance of places that fulfil that desire to know more about a new lipstick range, so in this post I'm going to show you the main places I go to for the goss!

How I use bloglovin

Bloglovin
Whilst Bloglovin isn't the only platform I read blogs on, most of them are infact clicking on a commentor's link and reading a post I would have missed otherwise, it's one of the easiest I would say. I always try to check my bloglovin feed once in the evening, although we've all been there where we've taken a break and come back to find we missed a whole lot of posts!

The main thing I love about reading other blogs is the detailed reviews about products, they're so helpful in informing you whether the product is worth buying or even hearing about a new line/brand that I might have oversaw initially.

Grazia Daily
Grazia is where I go for the funny beauty articles, like how to pronounce all those french brand names (if only I could do it so eloquently!), the latest news about brand ambassadors or trends like what is Tontour, or simple lifestyle posts that remind us that we don't need to strive for perfection constantly. The beauty pages, see here, are filled with constantly updated material that I could spend all day reading (sadly it's limited to my lunch hour).

I still remember when my teens were spent picking up Top of The Pops Magazine only to read through the beauty pages so it's refreshing to be able to flick through a (free) online magazine everyday and pick up some inspiration. The main thing I love about Grazia Daily is that it introduces me to topics that I wouldn't have actively gone looking for, plus the lifestyle tips can be very useful.

Makeup Alley
Lastly, Makeup Alley is the place that stops me making disastrous spantaneous decisions. It's very simple! All I have to do is type in a product name into google followed by makeupalley. It works by ratings, anything over 4.5 is so good that I HAVE to get my hands on it and anything over 4 is also really good. Then you have the decent products in the 3s, and anything below is at your own peril. It's basically a site of beauty lovers who review products, like blogs but they tend to be more bitesized reviews which are really useful when you don't have much time to research a product.

I've also found many great products there by looking at those rated highly, like the Rimmel Exxaggerate lipliner in 018 Addiction which is the perfect nudey brown.

So there you have it, my favourite online beauty reads!
I would love to hear what yours are!

  18. Makeup Alley is the one I rely on for reviews. If I want to see how a product is rated, I go straight to Makeup Alley. If the rating isn't good, then I don't bother. I also like that they provide the ingredients on their website.
