After giving my first impressions on this palette here, I am back with a more detailed post after playing around with it a bit more. The W7 In the Nude Eyeshadow Palette* features 12 shades that follow a neutral/rosey toned theme. It won't come as a surprise to you that this is meant to be an Urban Decay Naked 3 dupe, the main thing that separates this offering from W7 to other Naked 3 dupes though for me is that the packaging is a lot more similar; the tin case, the double sided brush (although it isn't the best at picking product up) and the layout of the shades. It looks the part but did it perform as well?
Most of the shades in the palette have quite a bit of shimmer, with a few that lean more on the metallic side, and out of the 12 there are only 3 shades that I would truly class as matte. One of the great things about this palette is that the shades are actually named so there won't be any attempts at numbering on my part. The split between the lighter and deeper shades is even at 6 a piece. The shades are also designed to take you from day to night, although I think there is a lack of a highlighter shade in the palette, however when you're mimicking a palette I guess you can't just add an extra shade in there or else it wouldn't be a dupe.
The Lighter shades are:
- Latte - A warm matte beige. I found that this didn't work as a highlighter as it just blended in with my skin so I use it as an all over base shade instead. It's also not as pigmented as I would have liked and slightly powdery.
- Angel - A beautiful iridescent baby pink shade with golden glitter running through it. Unfortunately, on the lid the glitter sort of takes over and there is also quite a bit of fallout.
- Venice - A metallic mauvey pink, although it does have fine golden specks running through this. I love this shade, it's very neutral but quite unique too, it would flatter everyone!
- Marilyn - A matte dusky pink. I love using this as a lid shade, the formula is very smooth although it could be a bit more pigmented. One of my favourite shades in the palette!
- Copper Pot - In the pan Copper Pot appears to be a deep mauvey rose, however it lacks in pigment and so it's more of a soft metallic rose on the lid.
- Sun Kissed - A lovely warm golden iridescent pink with shimmer running through it. This shade is a lot more pigmented than the other light shades, and the formula is that bit smoother as well. People who love their golden tones will enjoy this.
The deeper shades are:
- Alice - A matte mauve, borders slightly on burgundy. This is the deeper matte in the palette and I love it! It gives a lovely smoked look, although I did find the formula to be slightly chalky.
- Bad Manners - A brownish shimmery plum, this shade has intense pigmentation.
- Coffee Cup - A warm coppery brown with a shimmery finish. This is a lovely pigmented shade to go in the crease.
- Mud Slide - A metallic greyish brown. This is the only shade in the palette that leans a bit more on the cool side.
- Tokyo - A deeper grey. Out of the shimmer shades Tokyo have the least shimmer particles.
- Fashionista - A deep shimmery aubergine/burgundy shade. It can look black from afar but it's a lovely shade and perfect for intensifying a look.
Overall, as you can probably tell the deeper shades are much more pigmented than the lighter shades, the swatch above shows just how luminous and intense they are. Whilst some of the lighter shades don't have the same colour pay off I still love the mix of shades, especially the mattes. I would still say the palette is worth it as some of the shades are just too good to miss, plus in many eyeshadow palettes you can get some duds, so £5 (with free delivery here) for 12 shades isn't a bad deal I reckon! The pigment can also be improved a bit by wetting the brush beforehand, I used a facial mist for this and it really helped improve the look of shades such as Alice. I also tried them out with an eye primer but I think wetting the brush gives the best results.
I don't own the Naked 3 but from swatches online I would say the shades look quite similar, but Urban Decay comes out a bit better with the quality of the shadows, especially the lighter shades. However, that's £38 and this palette is almost an 1/8 of that! I think it's incredible that W7 can offer a lot for £5, so if you're looking for an affordable rose themed palette this is the one for you.
Those randomly popped up on my Amazon and it immediately reminded me of the Naked 3 palette. For a fiver I think you can't expect the same quality as Urban Decay, but it still seems to be good value for money. I thought about ordering them online, but I think I might order the Naked 3 instead.
ReplyDeleteThanks and Happy New Year.
For £5 I'm very pleased with the quality but if you have the budget for the original then go for it :)
DeleteFor £5 this looks amazing :) They look really pretty shades. The Naked 3 is the only Naked Palette i don't own as i don't think the rosy tones would suit me but this look like a good way to try them out :) I still haven't tried much from W7 but i always see your posts and i really want to try more!

I didn't think the rosy tones would suit me either or even show up but I've really been proved wrong. I think they would look amazing on you :)
DeleteThis looks such good value for money! Great find

Thank you :)
DeleteI really need to get my hands on these! I wanted the Naked 3 so bad before Christmas but it was sold out everywhere, I may have to hunt this down! x

Haha this isn't so hard to get your hands on, they sell it on quite a few websites or even Argos if you wanted it quickly :)
DeleteI have the naked 3 so I'd love to try this too! Amazing post!

It's a great affordable alternative, thank you :)
DeleteI have this palette and I absolutely love it! Yes, the pigmentation is not on par with Urban Decay but it's decent for its price. I personally prefer eyeshadows that are less intense because I'm still on a learning curve with eyeshadow application so this palette was perfect!
ReplyDeleteReflection of Sanity | StayLean Tea Australia Giveaway
Totally agree! I'm not the best at eyeshadow either, I think it's because I rarely need to do an eye look so I don't get much practice :)
DeleteI haven't tried this, but surely won't mind. Love love the shades a lot. :)

It depends on your budget, for an affordable option this is amazing :)
DeleteDefinitely good value for money, but there are too many shimmery shades which would probably go unused by me, as I prefer matte eyeshadows :) Happy new year!

I think they do some palettes than are inspired by the Naked mattes where you get 6 matte shades, I think you'll prefer those. Thank you, hope your new year went well :)

I really like the rosy pinks in the palette even though I was thinking they would be too pale for me. Aww it's a shame they don't sell overseas yet I think, I can't wait until things take off for them :)

Thank you, I'm so glad you liked it too :)
DeleteSeems like this palette has a pretty good value considering the price difference! I really love the darker colors too; I like how pigmented they look. I don't have any of the Naked palettes because they're too expensive, but I like this as an alternative. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSam | http://mybeautycloud.com
The pigment on the deeper colours was ridiculous, they were from just swatching once! I think the originals are quite expensive too if you're not going to get much use out of them, thanks for dropping by :)
DeleteAt first glance I thought this was a Naked 3 palette. Great product though and good shades. For just 5bucks too, wow! Nice.

My sentiments exactly! We're being pretty spoilt at the drugstore end alone :)
DeleteThe shades look lovely! I don't have the Naked 3 as its a little too pink toned for me but theirs looks like a great option!

DeleteI have seen this brand before and wondered if it was any comparison to the Naked Palette. The price is amazing and the colours are very lovely.
ReplyDeleteFor the price I would say it's a definite contender :)

Thank you! Hope your year is wonderful as well :)
DeleteThe darker shades do definitely remind the Naked 3 palette. But I actually like the lighter shades very much on the original Naked 3 palette and I don't think many things can beat the quality of them, even the lightest shades are perfect! But it's also expensive. So this looks like a really good palette if you want to try out a pink eye makeup :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great review!

I guess it won't be up there with the likes of a £38 palette but I'm really impressed for £5, and you're right! I always wanted to try a pink toned palette so this is perfect for me :)
DeleteI need to get my hands on these! For the price I feel like they're pretty fair and a must in my collection. Plus they do remind me of the Naked 3 colours, and I know the quality won't be the same but still, the colours are so gorgeous! I love my pinks.
ReplyDeleteElla Pinto
Completely agree, for £5 I am completely won over by them and it's a great chance to try the whole rosy pink eyeshadows :)
DeleteWow, I can't believe this was only £5?! How, how?!?! The shades look so stunning and the pigmentation is brilliant, especially on the darker shades! I'm definitely adding this to my shopping list... I've always wanted the Naked 3 palette but I can never justify the cost, especially since there are such great dupes available! Thanks for this in depth review, it was super helpful! :)

DeleteThese look pretty good! I don't think the lighter shades would show up on my skin (they never do) but the shimmer looks gorgeous. Happy new year!

I used to have the same trouble but my skintone is probably similar to yours and these definitely show up! Thank you, hope the year is great for you too :)
DeleteI actually read about this product on Refinery29, I think, on their post about the best dupes of Naked 3. I think this is one of the palettes they like compared to other dupes.

Ooh I'll have to check that out now :)
DeleteThis palette looks so pretty and I love nearly all the shades but especially Angel. What a bargain as well for just £5!! x
ReplyDeleteAngel is lovely! Haha definitely a bargain buy :)
DeleteI have the Naked 3 but it's one of my less used palettes, I adore a few shades but for some reason I end up reaching for my other ones a lot more! So I could have probably done better buying this cheaper alternative, lol ;) Loved your review! xx
ReplyDeleteGyudy's Notes Of Beauty
For an everyday look I guess I would go for more neutral-brown toned shades too so I can see why you don't get a lot of use out of the naked 3, and that's why I was really glad I got to try this dupe out instead :)
DeleteI love the shades in this!
