Wet n Wild Colour Trio Eyeshadow Revews

Wet n Wild Colour Trio Eyeshadow Revews
I've wanted to try Wet n Wild eyeshadow trios for a while now after seeing them appear everywhere on youtube, especially walking on eggshells. So when I saw a bargain deal up on Ebay I grabbed these three: Walking on Eggshells, Silent Treatment and I Dream of Geenie.

Wet n Wild Colour Trio Eyeshadow Revews
The great thing about these palettes is that they take out the guesswork of finding complimentary shades, they're a whole look in one. They come clearly marked with which shade is for the browbone, crease and eyelid. This concept will be really useful for beginners, but also those who want a quick look or are still getting to grips with eyeshadow (like me!)

The colour trios come packaged in plastic cases which click shut at the base. The see through top lets you see the exact shade you're getting and you also get a little sponge applicator, as well as a mini brush which is ok but you're better off with a full sized eyeshadow brush.

Wet n Wild Walking On Eggshells
Walking On Eggshells
I was most excited about trying this trio as it seems like it's a firm favourite for a natural look. The browbone shade is a soft champagne colour that would work well as a highlighter too, I don't have any problems with the pigment of this shade but I do think it looks slightly powdery when swatched. The crease shade is a warm bronzey brown, however it has golden specks running through this so it won't be suitable for those who prefer a matte crease. The pigment of the shade is great though, it's very smooth and would be a good crease colour for many. The eyelid shade is a soft pearly light pink with a frosted finish, it does look shimmery in the swatches but there isn't any shimmer particles like there is in the other two shades.

However, it was a bit of a different story when I tried these on. First of all, the browbone highlight really needs to be built up to show on my medium skintone and even then it's mainly the glitter you get. The eyelid and crease shade also needed to be built up a bit and I was slightly worried the colours weren't layering well. To be fair I didn't use a primer underneath as I wanted to test them out on their own and a base would probably have helped. However, I did think the colours went well together and the crease shade is quite spot on for my skintone. The palette did however leave me wanting in some aspects which was a disappointment as it seems to be a cult product for many so I can't help feeling there's something wrong I'm doing! I'll just blame it on my lack of eyeshadow skills, it's like in my head I know what I need to do but it just doesn't turn out so well haha!

Wet n Wild Walking On Eggshells

Wet N Wild Silent Treatment

Silent Treatment
Silent treatment wasn't my first choice but after seeing swatches of this online I was also really looking forward to trying it out. You could say it's more of a deeper, evening look whereas Walking On Eggshells is a more subtle option. The browbone shade is a silvery pink, although it might as well not exist as there's no pigmentation to it and so it doesn't show up (just getting a swatch of it was difficult!). The crease shade is a soft greyish black with slight golden flecks running through it. The eyelid shade is the most pigmented of the trio, it's a lovely taupey purple and my favourite!

On the eyes again the browbone shade doesn't show up. The crease shade comes up as more of a gunmetal grey, again not as pigmented as the eyelid shade which is the most true to colour and actually shows up very well. Again, there is a slight disappointment with this palette too as you're only really getting two shades and for me the crease shade isn't that wearable.

Wet N Wild Silent TreatmentWet N Wild I Dream Of Geenie

I Dream Of Geenie
I know what you're thinking, those are some vivid greens! They are indeed and I only picked up this palette as it came in a bundle with the two previous ones. The highlighter is a very shimmery silver with the slightest green tint to it. The crease shade is a lovely peacock green with more of an iridescent finish than shimmery. Lastly, the eyelid shade is a shimmery meadow green with golden specks running through it, it actually looks like a lovely colour rather than too garish as the swatch may suggest.

This trio felt a lot easier to apply compared to the other two as the shadows just felt that bit smoother, the pigmentation was also slightly better than the other two. The highlighter shade in this trio did show up but I'm not a fan of a strong glitter highlight. The crease and eyelid shade also showed up well but there can be a bit of fall out.

Wet N Wild I Dream Of Geenie

Wet n Wild Colour Trio Eyeshadow Revews

Overall, this is a product that has it's positives but also a few negatives in my eyes. The pigmentation of the highlighter shades is an issue in all the palettes (especially the first two) for me. Some of the shades are also not as true to how they look in the pan and lastly there's a bit too much shimmer going on for my liking, at one point I had glitter in my eyebrows! However, if you like trying out different products and you want to give these a go than I'd still recommend them as Walking in Eggshells is still a decent palette for a neutral look, the taupey purple in Silent Treatment is amazing and I Dream of Geenie is actually the better palette in terms of formulation out of the three.

I hope you enjoyed this post!

  15. Aw that's a shame, I love the first two trios and I feel like they could have had great potential. Maybe with an eye primer they might have worked slightly better. The idea behind it is good though, sometimes I can't decided which eyeshadows will look nice together.

  16. That green one sure is a fun palette!! I love that electric green shadow! I find it interesting that they green one was the best formula! You would think that they would have the neutral formula down! I really liked the look of Silent Treatment in the palette! The swatches were a slight disappointment like you said! Those highlighters colors just did not show uphaha!

Whenever a "staple" product doesn't work 100% for you, it leaves you confused - am I doing something wrong or is this really not working for me. I've been there lol.
