Chloe Love Story - Expression of a Free Woman

Chloe Love Story perfume
Initially when I received this perfume I was thinking the name 'Love Story' suggested a Romeo and Juliet setting, however I couldn't have been more wrong! Love Story is infact about loving and celebrating freedom and femininity, values intertwined within the brand name since it was founded. I, for one, am glad to see a perfume that celebrates women, mothers, entrepreneurs and all the other roles women play. It's a perfume that makes you think anything is possible!

With Mother's Day coming up this perfume is also the perfect celebration of our Mother's (or anyone who holds that role) because they shape us into the women of tomorrow.

Back on to the perfume, thank you Debenhams for allowing me to try a perfume that has such a powerful message behind it!

Chloe Love Story perfume

Chloe Love Story* is described as a clean floral. An orange blossom fragrance with notes of stephanotis jasmine, the flower of happiness. To describe it simply I would have said it's a soft floral that manages to capture that spring glow without being too sweet, but it's so much more than that! It takes popular scents, like Marc Jacobs Daisy, and adds a touch of sophistication to them than takes them from girlish perfume to a classic that would withstand time.  At first I wasn't sure whether it was my kind of perfume (I was still hanging on to the girlish Daisy) but I can honestly say I love it! I wear it to work everyday and I feel like I'm ready for the day, it makes me feel sophisticated and elegant (it had its work cut out!).

When I first apply it I get that rush of white florals, it's more of a refreshing burst though and not heady at all, it's miles away from the sharp perfumes that give the person next to you a headache (I've been that person..not fun). You might be thinking white florals? Orange blossoms are actually from the group white flowers and smell more like jasmine, rather than actual oranges. I couldn't remember what orange blossoms looked like either but after seeing this picture I can remember coming across them many years ago on holiday,.

The initial burst dies down very quickly and I get more of a soft musky undertone that comes through for me, it's described as clean and light and I would definitely agree. It's a very subtle perfume, rather than overpowering, that could be worn at any occasion; whether it's work, shopping, in the evening or on a wedding day which is a popular choice I believe.

The only drawback of this perfume is that I found it doesn't last very long on me, I did have high expectations though as I apply it in the morning at eight and ideally I would have still liked to be able to smell it around six in the evening. I would say a safer bet is that it's detectable on my skin till around midday, although this may be different for everyone else who has tried it.

It may also seem quite pricey at £47 for this 30ml bottle but then again you can argue most designer perfumes are. Plus Debenhams often have sales which include 10% off quite regularly.

Plus, if the above wasn't enough then all you have to do is look at the packaging, it's enchanting! It features gold accents as the main colour theme, with a little handle that you bend backwards to lift the glass circular lid. The 'Chloe' is embossed at the top and the glass bottle has ridges at the back which gives it a bit of glamour. This is all tied together with a very cute ribbon.

Overall, I would wholeheartedly recommend Chloe Love Story (see here), it's a classic but romantic at heart. It offers a refreshing take on the whole 'floral' genre, and for me it's my introduction into a classic scent.

I hope you enjoyed this post!
Have you tried any of the Chloe fragrances or have you got your Mother's day gift sorted?

    1. I think because of it being a bit subtle it can fade rather quickly but the positives outweight the negatives for me :) You should definitely try it out at the store as perfumes often perform differently on each person :)

  17. I've actually seen and tried this perfume in my local Debenhams, but couldn't make my mind up on it, as I thought the pretty bottle was also luring me into to have a favourable opinion towards the scent. But after reading your review, I love the inspiration behind it and I am definitely going to buy it!

  18. I haven't tried any of the Chloe fragrances but I've heard about this one a lot! I was surprised about the background though; like you I expected it to be more on the romantic side so I was pleasantly surprised! The scent itself also sounds great now that spring is coming up - especially since it doesn't have the sharp smell (I've been on the other side of that too and I really don't like it). Would love to try this out!

    1. I think it's great that it has a different message, as most of the adverts you see are all on the romantic side too and there isn't much of a portrayal of other aspects :)

  26. Love should be seen as love for everything and not only for another human being (relationship wise). So I love how they named this and how feminine it is and how it celebrates love for yourself and for who you are. Which is why I agree with you – it’s perfect for any woman in your life. For whoever brings you happiness and inspiration.

I love floral scents so I’m gonna go and smell this at every department store! So gorgeous.

You describe the fragrance so well, I'd love to see you do more perfume posts - you totally rock it! <3 I have and adore Love Story - admittedly I bought it mostly because of the adorable bottle, but the scent is really gorgeous, also. :) On me, it smells very clean and floral - it's very casual and I enjoy it for everyday wear.
