Hi everyone! I hope you're all enjoying the Summer (or in our case the rain!). You might remember that in one of my recent posts I said I was planning on treating myself for finishing my exams, and picking up some things I had my eye on for a while. Well, scroll down to see what I picked up!
- Freedom Pro Studio Glycolic Radiance Tonic (£6 here) - I'm sure by now you all know how much I love the Pixi Glow Tonic as I've been commenting it on so many of your blogs, definitely worth the hype in my opinion! However, when the Freedom dupe came out I read a lot of posts that stated they were very similar, so I thought I might as well give this a try now that my Pixi is running low.
- Freedom Pro Studio Priming Water (£6 here) - I don't normally reach for a primer for an everyday look, but after coming back home one day with patchy concealer after only 2 hours in the sun, I thought I need to try something! I read that this is great to go underneath your makeup, to create a smooth base, and also over the top, like the MAC Fix+. It's also supposed to be a dupe for the Smashbox priming water. I have tried it a few times and it does feel nice enough, although I can't say I've noticed a big difference yet. It's somewhat like the Balance Me setting spray I reviewed some time ago here, as it's also full of multi-vitamins, although I would say the Balance Me one has more of a skincare focus.
I've been meaning to do a Body Shop haul for ages, and they had 40% off aswell (if you google body shop voucher codes, all you have to do is put in your email and receive a code to show instore), so I decided to get three products. Also, can I just say the sales assistants are always really nice when it comes to using vouchers/promotional codes, they don't leave you there for ages feeling awkward!
- The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil (£16 here) - This stuff is amazing! How do I know that? Well, I've been helping myself to my Sister's for the last year, but there's no need to tell her that haha. Honestly, this is one of the best facial oils I've tried by far, it knocks a lot of the expensive ones I've tried out of the park! If you want to wake up to soft and plump skin, go for it, you won't regret it.
- The Body Shop Vitamin C Skin Reviver (£17 here) - I've been trying to look for some products that get rid of hyper pigmentation, please let me your recommendations if you have any (of if you've tried the Ordinary's vitamin C)! I came to the conclusion that I need to try some more Vitamin C products, ideally a serum. So I picked up this skin reviver from the body shop, which is supposed to enhance natural radiance. It's sort of a serum and primer in one, it has an odd gel like texture that smooths the surface of your skin making a great base for makeup. I've used it about 5 times so far, and whilst it's a great primer, it's not really hydrating, hence the websites recommendation to use it after moisturising. But that's where my problem lies! I wonder how effective it will be at reducing hyperpigmentation if I'm using it as the final product in my skincare? I'm going to see how this fares over the coming months.
- The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser (£16 here) - I was more interested in getting the serum rather than this initially, but when I tried it out in store, I was almost blown away as I realised it had the same gel-like texture of my favourite Origins GinZing moisturiser, a possible dupe? However, I still have my current day cream to finish, but the sales assistant suggested I pick this up too, so I thought I might as well! I'm yet to try this as I feel like I have to finish my current moisturiser first, but I can't wait!
- Collection Lasting Perfection Corrector in Lemon (£4.19 here) - When I saw the correctors on Collection's twitter page, I knew I had to order this as I always have horrible dark circles that make my eyes appear sunken in. I was wondering whether I could use it for hyperpigmentation around my chin too. However, I just don't think this works for me. One, I found the formula to be very thick, more so than the original concealers, so it looked quite cakey and also gave me a white cast. I have seen a lot of people raving about this on instagram, but they tend to use the fairest shade concealer, whereas I have a medium skintone (around NC30), so I think it might just be that the shade is too light for me, or I need more of a peach corrector to cancel out any darkness.
- YSL 'Touche Eclat' Neuraliser Bisque Colour Corrector (£25.50 here) - After being dismayed the Collection Corrector didn't work for me, I saw Kaushal Beauty on youtube using this to colour correct darkness under her eyes and around her mouth. As she has a similar skintone to me, I decided to try this out too. Whilst I'll do a full review on this later, I don't think this is a miracle product. Whilst it does conceal the darkness to an extent, some darkness still comes through where you have applied less product, and I'm divided on whether it works on the hyper pigmentation around my chin. It also cost a lot, so I'm wondering whether it was worth it.
- Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Shade 20 (£5.99 here) - I picked this up today (hence why it's not pictured) after seeing so many of you mentioning it, so I'm intrigued to give this a go! I wish picking a shade was easier though, or there was more variety.
I hope you enjoyed this post!
I'd love to know if you have any suggestions on beating hyper pigmentation, or if you've picked up any of these products?
The Radiance Tonic sounds lovely. x

Thank you xx
DeleteI wish we had a Body Shop here, there are so many products I want to try and unfortunately I can only get them while travelling! Great haul! x

Oh no that's such a shame!
DeleteLove a good haul and thanks for the honest review of the items - always on the lookout for high-quality products to switch-up my make up or skincare routine. Will have to give some of these a go, keen to try the Pixi Glow Toni or the Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser - as you can tell, I want that summer glow :-D.

Haha same here, I think my skin looks so dull at the moment :)
DeleteWould love to know how you get on with the Freedom dupe for the Pixi Glow Tonic. I love a good budget friendly dupe! xx
ReplyDeleteIndie// In Search of the Holy Grail
I love finding great dupes too :)
DeleteI haven't bought anything from Freedom in ages now, I used to have so many eyeshadow palettes and lipsticks from them. I've heard so many good things about their priming water so do keep us updated as to how you get on with it. The price of that YSL product agrhh!
ReplyDeleteCharlotte / Charlotte's Picks
Same here, I don't think they're stocked in too many places, I ordered them online. I know, it shocked me too!
DeleteGreat haul, I still haven't tried Fit Me concealer and I am curious to see how Freedom compares to the Glow Tonic! Keep us posted xxx

Same here, I love a good dupe :)
DeleteYou'll love the Fit me Concealer, its amazing!! I live by it, in fact its the only thing I use daily haha!
ReplyDeletetipscapsule.blogspot.com
I want to use it, but it's too hot!
DeleteNo way I had no idea that Freedom made a dupe for the Pixi Glow Tonic.. I love the Pixi one so will have to try this one out!

xx
Same here, I remember seeing it on blogs a while back :)
DeleteI love The Body Shop`s Vitamin E Serum-in-Oil, I`ve been buying it for years. Though I`m pretty sure they`ve increased after its success. I think I first bought it for 12£ and now it`s 16£. But still worth it!

Agreed! Plus they have 40% off all the time so winner winner!
DeleteOmg I need to try that Pixi Glow Tonic dupe!!x

DeleteI really like the Vitamin C moisturiser - it really leaves skin soft and smooth! :)

I'm so excited to try it xx
DeleteI've heard similar things when it comes to YSL's Touche Eclat - basically that it was pretty overpriced considering what it does. I'll have to check out that Vitamin E oil though! I've been stalking Sephora's site so much that I've completely forgotten about The Body Shop!
ReplyDeleteSam | My Beauty Cloud
You do get a tiny amount of products in there! I didn't even realise at the time because it looked like there would be quite a bit in the tube x
DeleteI recommend either the Becca Backlight Colour Corrector in Peach or the Under Eye Brightening Corrector. Or if you are on a budget, the NYX Dark Circle concealer is perfect, it has peach undertones! I have never heard of Freedom Cosmetics but I really love the Pixi Glow Tonic!
ReplyDeleteHannah
Floraful
Thank you so much! I'm definitely going to check them out :)
DeleteWow you have so many goodies that I want now!! I really am curious about glycolic and my current favourite skincare brand (The Ordinary) have been out of stock with it for awhile now so I haven't been able to try it out. Perhaps I'll try that Glycolic Radiance Tonic or better yet the Pixi one since it seems to be a cult favourite with everyone. I've also been on a mission to figure out hyper pigmentation so I'm going to be paying attention to your comments as well hahah. Lovely post!
ReplyDeleteStacey, thebambieyes.com
Thank you! I think both the Pixi/Freedom would work well for you, I've tried Nip and Fab pre soaked pads before but they didn't make a difference, unlike the first two. It's so hard because there are a few products for hyperpigmentation, but a lot of the reviews tend to be a hit and miss : x
DeleteI haven't tried some of those products, but I love that Vitamin C range of Body Shop :)
ReplyDelete❤ Alyssa // STYLE VANITY
I can't wait to give it a go :)
DeleteI haven't used any of these products but I do suffer from hyper-pigmentation as well! I've actually been using the Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser for the last few weeks and I think it helps with my hyper-pigmentation and it seems to be fading my post acne scars :)
ReplyDeleteJulia // The Sunday Mode
Thank you for the recommendation, I'll keep an eye out for that one :) x
DeleteGreat products! I love the look of the vitamin C range at TBS.

DeleteThe body shop Vitamin E and C products are amazing. I am looking forward to try Freedom Radiance tonic.

DeleteSo many amazing products here and I still haven' try that YSL concealer until today!
ReplyDeleteThat's the corrector, I haven't tried the concealer much either x
DeleteLove that selection!!

Thank you :)
DeleteI enjoyed using the freedom makeup glycolic acid toner. I really do want to try the priming water! There are also so many body shop skincare items I want to try!
ReplyDeletewww.themakeupaficionado.com
It's good to hear you liked it :)
DeleteHaha sampling a family member's pot before buying is a great way to find good skincare! I love the sound of the Bodyshop Vitamin C range, I'll have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteAmy - https://amyevans.co.uk
Technically, I did buy it for her, well with the intention of using it myself haha :)
DeleteI was just about to say the Bodyshop Vitamin C range reminds me of the Origins one! I've been looking for a lighter moisturiser now it's summer, that one sounds perfect!
ReplyDeleteSinéad xo Fabuleuse Du Jour
I was just trying it on the back of my hand and it hit me, that this is just like the Origins one! Don't know why I hadn't seen it before :)
DeleteNow this is a good haul! Lots to love - considering my love of lasting perfection concealer, I'm really intrigued about the colour correction versions although if it's as cakey as you say, I may have to give it a miss!
ReplyDeleteMusings & More
I did find it a bit hard to work in xx
DeleteThe Body shop is killing it recently isn't it? Some great products there. In terms of hyperpigmentation, I'd point you towards the Kiehl's turmeric mask. It's helped me xx
ReplyDeletewww.rougenapples.com
Thank you so much for the recommendation! x
DeleteI also have some hyperpigmentation on my chin that I'm desperate to get rid off. I'm testing out the C20 Vitamin C serum (I think they recently renamed it) so hopefully that one will help. The struggle to search for the right concealer is real haha I'm using a shiseido stick but I'm going to get something new (maybe NARS? Heard it's quite good) because it just cannot stay smooth on my undereye area. Hope the Maybelline one works for you!
ReplyDeleteyanrula x
Thanks for the recommendation, hope it works out for you! I did try the Nars one but I didn't think it was that good for my dry skin either :) x
DeleteThis is such a fab haul and it looks like you picked up some great products. I really want to try the new Collection colour corrector as well and need to try and get my hands on them asap :) x
ReplyDeleteI think it might work for you, but the shade was too pale for me :)
DeleteI had no idea Freedom did skincare-ish products as well as makeup "dupes"! My recommendation for hyperpigmentation is a skincare product with niacinamide in it - I like the Ordinary one, of course!
ReplyDeleteMorgan | Hyacinth Girl
Thank you so much for the recommendation!
DeleteI can't deal with The Body Shop products, I feel that they scent their products a bit too much for my skin. The only thing I still purchase from them is the cleansing balm, as it's so affordable. YSL touche éclat is an amazing product.
ReplyDeleteNathalie
www.nathalie-alexandra.blogspot.com
I only tried the original touche eclat once but I felt like it was more of a highlighter, I'm excited to try the corrector though :)
DeleteI really need to try The Body Shop skincare products, that moisturizer sounds divine!
ReplyDeleteLaila from Townhouse Palette
I've tried it out a few times and it is quite nice, but I do wear a serum underneath :)
DeleteI always love Body Shop products!

Such an amazing haul! I've never heard of the Freedom brand before but that's great that they're making dupes of these popular products - I hope the radiance tonic works just as well as the Pixi Glow Tonic!
ReplyDeleteJenny // Geeky Posh
Thank you! I actually do quite like their setting spray, but I need to try the tonic out xx

DeleteI have only two concealers and that's one from the sleek contour palette and one from No.7. I have to say the sleek one is better but concealers still look cakey under my eyes and I hate it! I've yet to find one that I really like!
ReplyDeleteMeg x the-writeblog.blogspot.co.uk
Do you have dry skin! I found that happened to me too, an eye cream at night can help! Although, I agree that it can be hard finding a good concealer xx
DeleteHi, I have just discovered your blog! It looks amazing, your reviews are so honest! I have just started my own blog, have you got any tips? Xx
